BRIEF INTRODUCTION OF THE FACULTY
Prior to 2002, the present Faculty of Financial Studies (FFS) was part of the Faculty of Management Studies (FMS). All business management courses were lumped together as Business Studies and in the same vein all finance related courses were equally treated as financial studies. However in the year 1997 in order to expand academic frontier of students of financial studies and to encourage professionalism Accountancy and Banking & Finance were created out of the erstwhile financial studies as separate and distinct programs. It was as a result of this policy that gave birth to the current Department of Banking and Finance.
The department is headed by the Head of Departments (HOD) and assisted by a secretary for the day to day administration of the department. The Head of Department (HOD) is appointed by the Rector based on recommendation by the Dean of the Faculty. The Head of Department (HOD) reports directly to the Dean of Faculty for his opinion on matters that beyond the scope of the HOD. The current HOD is Mr. Taiwo Adekanye (ACIB)
